Rockbox Theater resident cast members perform music from the 50's-80's.
Hello,
Rockbox Theater opened in June 2007. Here are recent postings on TripAdvisor about this family-friendly professional live music theater in downtown Fredericksburg.

When our family told us we were going to a live music theater in Fredericksburg, I thought it would be another night at the local Opry. Wow! We were totally blown away! We live in Kansas and came to Texas for a reunion. Our family told us about Rockbox but we had no idea there was such a place outside of Las Vegas or Branson. These guys were awesome! I was a show producer in Branson for about 10 years back in the 80-90's, when I worked with everyone from Mel Tillis to Roy Clark, Andy Williams, The Baldknobbers and Wayne Newton. So I had my doubts.
Well, this absolutely blew me away that these guys were doing this type show in Texas! The night we went, I heard probably the best Neal Diamond ever, although he didn't look like Neal, his voice was all Diamond. They have a dead-on Johnny Mathis, Johnny Cash, early Elvis, Hank Williams. These guys do impressions that would make Danny Gans squirm.
They even performed an Eagles Tribute better than anything in Branson. Yes, with the "Hotel California " leads. All the females had great stage presence and one blond did a spot-on Bette Midler. One of the guys can dance and move like James Brown in a funny comic skit about two "dumb and dumber" type characters that eventually play some great rock and roll. The lead guitar player led the group in a Motown medley that hit all the right buttons. At times the rhythm section was just the drums, Bass and a keyboard player who emulates all the instruments known to man. Kudos to the piano man. Very tight band. The lightshow was as good as I've seen. Tasteful and flowing. Stadium seating made the view a lot better. This show could put Fredericksburg on the map as the new "Lone Star Branson". I could see several of these venues pop up in the years to come.
This is a high energy, very musical, funny show. Productions like this are the Holy Grail that Branson Theaters seek, then they play them ad nauseum for years at a time. We were told by the announcer that they change the show every week!
The tribute to the veterans and the gospel feel at the end was a nice touch that more theaters should incorporate.
We will definitely be back. Worth every penny.
