Want a real taste of Texas? Be sure to visit the Buckhorn Saloon.

It's kid friendly and a real treat for the entire family. I tell everyone visiting San Antonio that this is a 'must see' and located just 2 blocks west of the Alamo (corner of Houston St. and Presa St.). You won't be disappointed.

Established in 1881, this is a San Antonio landmark and home to some 520 mounted species from around the world. The proprietor, Mr. Albert Friedrich, started the saloon in 1881 and soon realized that many of his patrons (travelers to trail hands) didn't always have money to spend. So he started a policy of trading horns and antlers for a shot of whiskey or beer. The saloons reputation grew and so did his collection (both in quantity and quality).

There's everything from full size mounts to furniture made with the mounts to artwork designed by his wife Emile. She accepted jars of rattle snake rattlers vs. mounts and created beatiful pieces of art.

You'll be amazed. This is definitely a 'don't miss' for San Antonio and a site the whole family can enjoy.
