Zoo / Train Ride / University

I like the short trip to Fort Worth for a day at the Zoo, followed by a train ride through Trinity Park. It is inexpensive and hours of operation are accommodating.

The Train Depot is located West of the Zoo entrance. If you prefer, take the train to the park, stay for a while and let the kids play at the park, or better yet, drive over to the park and have a picnic. That's a favorite of ours.

Across the street (University) is the Botanical Gardens which is a relaxing place as well. If you time it just right, in the Park they host theatrical plays.

Did I mention the massive Duck pond? Kids love that too!

Here is another favorite- The newly reconstructed Museum/ Omni Theater.

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE Fort Worth! We live in Waco, which is halfway between DFW & Austin, but lived in Fort Worth for 15 years and visit at least once a month!

The hill

Take some cardboard to slide down the hill in the fall when the grass is dormant, it is hours of fun.
